TEDxDoverSherbornHighSchool 2023

In light of deception, our theme for this event is centered around this quote by Andre Malraux: “Man is not what he thinks he is, he is what he hides.” How and why does society deceive you? What might lead you to succumb and be a victim to that deception? Is it all bad, or is there some good that comes with it?

Our Speakers

California Godfrey

California Godfrey is a senior at Dover Sherborn High School. She likes knitting, the color orange, and trips to the beach. You can almost always find Cali at her dance studio where she performs competitively and teaches ballet. Cali is passionate about people and the personal connections that help us navigate our world. Her talk will explore the impacts of allowing biases to cloud our otherwise personal interactions, especially within the healthcare system, and what it takes to overcome judgment when your life's on the line.

Suyasha Athuluri

Suyasha Athuluri is a senior at Dover-Sherborn High School. She finds value in hidden perspectives and unknown voices, and is always looking to be both the inspired and the inspiring. Her interests lie in a wide variety of fields, from the most abstract art to the most concrete math problem, and she is looking forward to seeing how her differing interests could unite in her future career. When she's not pondering the mysteries of the universe, Suyasha spends her time making jewelry, dancing to any song imaginable, or finding places to hide all her sketches and paintings.

Angela Lin

Angela Lin is a junior at Dover-Sherborn High School. She views climate change as the largest challenge facing her generation and has dedicated her time in and out of school to being part of the solution. Angela hopes to inspire others to recognize their influence on the world and raise their voices for good. Outside of the classroom, Angela is a dedicated member of the track and field team, competing in hurdles and shotput. She also enjoys going on hikes, spending time with friends, and collecting paper fortunes from fortune cookies.

Since Raheel started his journey in May 2010, he has battled severe sciatica, losing his father in his hands, and overcoming health issues such as pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure & more. Raheel has had to break down many walls in his life to get to where he is today. Today, Raheel is 40 years old, married for 7 years and is a father to a beautiful 3 year old son.
